I would like to address a matter that must come to the awareness of the nationals of Trinidad and
Tobago. The awareness is that Rastafari-an-ism ‘as a living ideology’, which is religious and political
within its totality.
Rastafari is an Amharic word that means “Head Creator”. Ras is the prefix title meaning “Head”,
therefore Tafari means “Creator”. In Rastafari-an-ism, Rastafari becomes the divine subject. The
sovereign King Rastafari became Negus on 7th October, 1928; Malachi chapter 1 v14, “…I am a great
King, saith the Lord of hosts, and my name is dreadful among the heathen.” Also, Isaiah chapter 43
v15, “I am the Lord, your Holy One, the creator of Israel, your King.”
On 2nd November, 1930 “Transfiguration Day”, Rastafari transfigured from Rastafari “Head Creator”
to Haile Selassie the First “Might of the Trinity”. Fulfilling Revelation chapter 19 v12, “His eyes were
as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew,
but he himself.” The name no man knew, but himself was; the “Might of the Trinity” Haile Selassie
the First. Thus establishing the historical data for his messiahship, the Royal Messiah as King on 7th
October, 1928 and the Priestly Messiah as Emperor (God) on 2nd November, 1930.
The ‘an’ as the people whom are the subordinate in Rastafari-an-ism must give all their obedience to
Rastafari, Haile Selassie the First. Representation also is given to ‘an’ (people) in Rastafari-an-ism
through his principles of practice, which is his objective.
The religious phenomenon that has its doctrine based on the divinity of Emperor Haile Selassie the
First, ‘Might of the Trinity’. Haile Selassie the First is the Messiah, the embodiment of the Priestly
and the Royal messiahship of our epoch.
The political ideology whose theory is based on modern Ethiopiansim, Tafari Makonnen before he laid
the base of government in Ethiopia was appointed to the governorship of Harar and its provinces. On
the 3rd of March, 1910 this authority was bestowed onto him “Governorship”.
The ‘an’ in Rastafari-an-ism is the people that will worship the deity ‘Might of the Trinity’, through
Haile Selassie the First, within a temple (temple worship). Giving the deity the attributes of gods
compatible to that of Budda of the Himalayas, Krishna of India, the Dalai Lama of Tibet, Confucius of
China, and Joshua the Christ of Canaan (Palestine). Therefore, the ‘an’ is the people that will attach
themselves unto the vine (Rastafari Haile Selassie the First) through initiation (baptism) which is to be
born again. The statement of St. John chapter 3 v3, “…Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be
born again, he cannot see the Kingdom of God.” The Kingdom of God shall come through his
messiahship as identified in Numbers chapter 24 v17, “…there shall come a Star out of Jacob, and a
Scepter shall rise out of Israel…”. Also the statement of St. John chapter 15 v5, “I am the vine, ye
are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without
me ye can do nothing.” Rastafari Haile Selassie the First, becomes the center of existence to those
whom will fulfill his objective and become a part of his estate.
The ‘ism’ in Rastafari-an-ism is the embodiment of political practices. Principles that will govern the
state (Constitutional Monarchy) based on the theory of modernization through righteousness.
Rastafari laid the base of government in Ethiopia on the 27th September, 1916 to establish the
platform for modern Ethiopianism. Rastafari Haile Selassie the First, is the prototype also the protocol
that embodied a people with his objective, those whom will walk in his ways.
Rastafarians Haile Selassie I-ists and all people that are in search of the God Head Haile Selassie the
First ‘Might of the Trinity’, the eternal. They must come to the realization that tradition and custom
must be modified in order to ensure continuity as a people.
Rastafari-an-ism must be institutionalized and become an integral part of the community of
Rastafarians Haile Selassie I-ists. In the near future, it will give representation and acts as a
vanguard for themselves and their families. This ideology Rastafari-an-ism has religious and political
base through theocracy, the divine Kingship through Constitutional Monarchy. It will also give ethics
and etiquette to the faithful; therefore, direction will be given with a sense of purpose and destiny that
will find its true meaning, to the young adherents of the faith.
May the ‘Might of the Trinity’, the creative force, the eternal, help us in fulfilling our sincere desire to
the awakening consciousness of the people to this philosophy. Long live the dynasty of Emperor Haile
Selassie the First through Zara Yacob.
